Character Creation
Be sure to read all of the rules and guidelines! Being knowledgeable will result in your character being accepted quicker!
General Character Rules:
1. Hurtful Personalities
I feel like this should be addressed first as it's bound to happen sooner or later. Please all members be respectful of each other and characters created. A character's outlooks and views do not represent that of the person playing it(unless they choose to do so). An extremely rude character who may be insulting, could have an extremely nice and kind creator. Please keep this in mind when creating your character, state this clearly so that others know what they'll be roleplaying with if that's what you choose to do.
2. Be Unique But Not Extreme
Characters can be altered greatly, but they must still be recognizable from their story. Such as, The Frog Prince could be a shape-shifting frog who can switch forms at will. Things like that. But as I said, don't stray too far from the story, he must still be recognizable as The Frog Prince.
3. Ages
Characters must be 13 or over. This will be no world for young children, plus they may have a harder time interacting with older characters or completing challenges set out before them.
4. Appearance
The appearance section on your written application must be filled out in detail so that people know what your character looks like! Don't simple say 'Has black hair and wears a coat', this does not tell people what your character looks like! Be more descriptive like this, 'Has short curly black hair and a sharp chin that both make his crystal blue eyes stand out.'
5. History
Get into the characters history! Make sure you base it from the story the character has been created from, but feel free to add your own touch! Feel free to browse existing applications to get some ideas of what others have done.
6. Beasts (Anything other then human or humanoid)
Characters can be full blooded Dragons, Animals, monsters, etc. However they must be able to speak and communicate 100%, meaning to growling, huffing, grunting used to talk to people. It must be english.
7. Mary-Sues/Gary-Sues
Please make your character believable. They can't be thirteen years old and be able to do brain surgery. They can not be perfect in any way and for every good point they have to also have a flaw. In the same respect, don't make your character over-powered, unharmable, or too much of a damsel in distress. A character that is super worthless is just as bad as a character that can do anything(By worthless I'm talking about, slips on a banana peal and breaks every bone in their body so that someone has to carry them around for weeks. Having a little bad luck isn't bad at all! Just make in believable.).
8. Act Your Age
Make sure your character acts their age. Of course they may act a little immature but you will have to say so in the personality. Say, a 13 year old will not act like a 30 year old and a 30 year old should not act like a 13 year old.
Finding a Story & Character
1. Read The Story
Make sure you KNOW the original story of which you'll be basing your character! Media has completely twisted and morphed the original stories which the group will be based on. So be sure you're knowledgeable.
2. One and Only
There are different wolves, Foxes, and princes in the Grimm's Fairytales. However, there can only be one character per story. Meaning, there can only be one character based off Little Red Riding Hood, or The Big Bad Wolf. If you can't think of any characters that haven't already been chosen, then Note the group with the title 'Character Help' with what your looking for in the description and FantasyToArt will respond with some stories for you to check out and maybe give you some inspiration! Be sure to check out the character list to see which characters are taken.
Note: Add in the description something like: 'Looking for a wolf character', or 'looking for a princess/cool female character'.
3. Buddies
Keep in mind that people can claim Characters, not stories. Meaning if you're Red Riding Hood, more then likely another person will have The Big Bad Wolf. So do not request that you are the only person who controls that story, unless you create all characters that belong to that story.
4. Powers
If you give your character super powers be sure they coincide with the original character. A normal prince from the story CAN NOT have super strength when you create him. For example, the Big Bad Wolf may be able to create hallucinations in order to trick people into him being a different person, or it can be exact, like the Stout One from the Six Servants may be still just that, able to consume any amount of food or drink.
5. Gender
Characters MUST stay the same gender as they had in the original stories! It just keeps things much neater and easier. If the character had an unspecified gender in the story then you are free to choose yourself!
6. Choosing an Alliance
Read this journal before choosing an alliance for your character!
